Wisconsin Dells Golf

Information and Reviews of Wisconsin Dells Area Golf

When most people think of the Wisconsin Dells, the first thing that probably comes to mind is Water Parks, amusement parks and all kinds of activities for the family. There is another side of Wisconsin Dells, that's a little more for the adults, and it is world class golf. The Wisconsin Dells area is home to some of the best golfing in the state and even the country. Below you will find our personal reviews of area courses from our first hand experience.

Coldwater Canyon - Part of Chula Vista Resort, this course combines the old with the new to create a golf experience that is just plain fun for all experience levels. The front 9 was originally built in the 1920's and retains it's character of rolling fairways, tight greens and a shot maker's course. The back 9 was rebuilt in 2006 and offers wide open fairways. guarded by moguls and bunkers and large greens. The variety keeps play interesting and the slope of 113 and par 69 make for an enjoyable day for all skill levels.

Northern Bay - Located 30 minutes North of the Dells, this course is definitely worth the trip. With replica holes of TPC Sawgrass, St. Andrews and many others, this course is a must play. It is meticulously maintained, with wide open fairways and plenty of challenge for the experienced golfer. One of our favorite holes is #10 which is a replica of the island green at TPC Sawgrass. Bring a couple balls to the tee box with you because you are either on or you are wet. Even if you make it on, it's hard to resist taking an extra shot or two. What will keep us coming back to this course is the variety and attention to detail on every hole.

Trapper's Turn - This course has been around for a while in the Dells and offers 27 holes of championship golf. Recently purchased by the Kalahari Resort, this course offers country club golfing at it's best. It can be hard to choose which two 9's to shoot with 3 great tracks to choose from, so, we suggest making a long day of it and shooting all 27.

Wild Rock - The newest addition to the Dells golf scene, this course is a truly amazing masterpiece put together by the Wilderness Resort. The first word that comes to mind with this course is BIG. Big fairways, big greens, big slope (141 from the tips) and big fun. Be sure to bring your A game and long ball to this course. The fairways are some of the widest that we have seen on almost any course but, many of the holes require a 100 to 150 yard carry over ravines just to get the ball in play. There is a lot of distance between holes, so, be sure to plan on more than the usual 4 hours for the round. Golf carts feature state of the art GPS which really helps judge distance and to the green as well as the foursome ahead of you.
